Hortensia House

Hortensia House was designed by the architects Mangor & Nagel, and inspired by Functionalism, which was famous for its simple and clear-cut expression. The architecture with the green roof is stringent and functional, and allows the details to be formed by the identity of the location, Grønttorvet, with trees, bushes and beds of plants.
The green elements are simply part of the architectural style. On the roof is a greenhouse, where residents can grow seasonal vegetables and strengthen social relations. The rest of the roof has succulent plants, which, apart from looking attractive, relieve the drainage system, as the plants take up a large proportion of the rainwater.
